Caryn B asked:

Some of the facial products I use contain essential oils and I want to start using them, if its safe, in my facial recipes so anyone know any good ones? Just check the label on your products if they have any of the oils in them of course. Thanks!!

The ONLY essential oil I use is 10W 30 and its usage is to retard engine damage.

They are not as essential as you think. People have been getting on fine without them for years. Your skin gets used to them after a while, which is why when you stop using them, your skin feels dry and you feel like need to use them.

Essential and genuine oil that I know of is called “virgin oil” which is a product taken from coconut. Philippines is famous for this. Its usage is both internal and external.

I’m not sure it’s exactly an essential oil, but tea tree oil is supposed to be healing and good for the skin and skin ailments. However, it has an almost medicinal scent that some people might not like.

Essential oils are the most potent extracts taken from a great many different plants etc…they are commonly used as fragrance enhancers and some people believe they can have calming or stimulating effects on the body (i.e, patchoulli has a spicy odor that stimulates thought and can be used as a conversation starter or aphrodisiac.) If you go to any holistic medicine retailer, you can find the essential oils isolated and sold individually, and depending on the scent can be used in conjunction with a base mineral oil for massage or diluted into a plug-in or incent for aromatherapy. many pharmeceutical and cosmetic companies use these principles to integrate these oils into lotions, body washes and soaps (i,e. invigorating body wash or shampoos). the effectiveness varies from person to person depending on your sense of smell. a few drops of peppermint in a facial steamer or simply added to a pot of boiling water can unclog pores and clear balckheads!
